British Protectorate 1815-1864 1830 (Dec 31): Incoming entire letter from Livorno to Corfu endorsed via Otranto, struck with LIVORNO straight line in black and, on arrival by scarce Small Coat of Arms "OFFICIO DELLA POSTA GENERALE / CORFU" cachet in black with rate "6" (pence) inserted in manuscript. Reverse with Naples transit in red (Jan 6, 1831) and hooded "CORFU" arrival (Jan 19) in black. Scarce and fine cover.
Note: The Small Coat of Arms cachet was only in use between 1829 and 1833, concurrent with the Large Coat of Arms cachet (known between 1825 and 1841).
