French Post Office in Aleppo 1859 (June 15): Ingoing Entire letter with the Ropit from Smyrna to Alexandretta, then to the French P.O. in Aleppo, struck on despatch by indistinct framed “COMPAGNIE RUSSE SMYRNE” handstamp in blue (Tchilinghirian fig 146), upon arrival with two line "POSTE FRANÇAISE / D’ALEP“ handstamp in blue. An interesting and exceptional combination cover with these two handstamps from the Russian and French services in the Levant.
