Heinrich Köhler 383rd Auction – Day 3 Single Lots: German Empire 1872 – 1945 German Reichspost – Shield Issues – The Michael Rehme Collection (part II)

1 groschen carmine and 2 groschen blue with clear cancellation "POWAYEN 29.5.72" on envelope with black handstamp "FRANCO" to Moscow with arrival postmark. For covers from the border province of East Prussia, a reduced 3 Groschen postage for letters up to 15 g applied until 12 July 1872. The perfectly perforated stamps (postage stamp) and the envelope with slightly age stains, otherwise in good overall condition. Only about a handful of letters with the 3 Groschen-Grenzprovinzen postage valid for a good half year are known, photo finding Krug BPP (1997)
