Brig Porpoise off Vera Cruz, Augt 13th 1846" dateline on folded letter to Carlisle Pa. with some Mexican war naval related news, entered mails with "Pensacola Flor. Aug 22" cds, some soiling and wear; 1846 letter from Boston Nov. 3 to Samuel R. Knox, USS Albany at New York Harbor, just three days before she was commissioned on Nov. 6th, she sailed on Nov. 26th to join the war, F.-V.F.
