Pre-Long Beach Auction #84

1847 N-31 R5 Large 7 over Small 7 VF35. Ten points sharper but recolored medium brown and light chocolate with peeps of faded red in protected areas. The only notable mark is a spot of shallow carbon over the E in CENT. EDS, die state a, without any die cracks on the reverse. The "Large 7 over Small 7" feature is obvious. A shallow low spot caused by debris on the die has caused minor roughness between the date and star 1. To the unaided eye this cent looks nearly mint state.
