Karamitsos Auction #509 of Coins, Medals & Banknotes1800 medal of Ushakov in silver for the relief of the Ionian islands and its proof, pattern (?) or later struck from the original die in lead metal. Obverse: Bust of Admiral Ushakov in uniform and orders with legend in half Russian half Greek "The valiant and pious Russian Admiral Feodor Ushakov, 1800". Reverse: A birds-eye view of the citadel of Corfu and Vido Islands, two French ships of the line between, six Russian outside, all at anchor. Legend "ΣΩΤΗΡΙ ΚΕΦΦΑΛΗΝΙΑΣ ΠΑΣΣΩΝ ΤΩΝ ΙΟΝΙΩΝ ΝΗΣΩΝ" (Cephalonia to the saviour of all the Ionian Islands). Hand graven name "Nicolas ?????" on odv. surface. The medal has diameter 73mm and weight 82gr. The second piece has diameter 78mm and weight 166gr. The medal is in Almost Very Fine to Very Fine condition, scratched with a light strike on perimeter. The second piece has faults mainly in the perimeter but present a very nice relief. A.
