Lot 4121 - militaria germany - Status International Coins & Banknotes Public Auction 361Africa Corps: 1939-45 88mm Anti-Aircraft/Anti-Tank gun panoramic sight, RBL-SL by 'DPW' (Zeiss Ikon Ag, Goerzwerk, Berlin). In Africa/temperate climate paint finish (mustard/tan). Serial No. 18508. optics good. Captured March 1945 by Australian Prisoner of War at Nurnberg, Germany. NX25232 Pte Frank Leslie Hebbard, from Sale, VIC. Enl. 9/7/1940, at Five Dock, NSW to 2/5th Australian Hospital to Greece & captured by Germans on the outskirts of Athens. To Stalag VIII in 1945 marched away from the advancing Russians until they met Patton's Army in the West. Disch 13/10/1945. Shrapnel damage evident. gVF. Nice souvenir of this infamous gun. An extremely rare dagger that preceded the 1st model Luftwaffe Dagger with the early 1933-34 Eickhorn Proof mark, on the short double edged blade. Metal fittings are nickel plated the wood grip & scabbard a dark blue leather. The scabbard shows signs of wear but still in VGC the grip in unmarked. Black enamel swastikas are inset on the front & rear of the sloping ridged crossguard. The DLV spread wing insignia is stamped on the scabbard throat. A leather & metal belt hanger is fitted. Standard teardrop design metal frames with aviator-style clear glass lenses, olive green painted aluminium frames with rubber eye sockets, ea of the eye sockets stitched to the framework of clear lenses. Rubber no longer supple. Head strap replaced. Comes with small square-shaped storage tin & replacement lenses, dent to side. Also used by all services as universal all purpose goggles.
