Assistant U.S. Treasurers of U.S. New Orleans Branch, Assortment of Handwritten Letters. New Orleans, Louisiana, Lot of 7 letters dated 1869 to 1871. All are printed on United States Treasury (5) or Office of Assistant U.S. Treasurer letterheads (2), content relates to unpaid checks that will be stopped. The letters were signed by Charles Clinton, A.T. and one by John Walton, A.T., All are addressed to the U.S. Comptroller of Currency in Washington. Mostly fine to VF. Written during the heart of the post Civil War reconstruction period in the south.
