Handwritten Booklet – Special Prayers of the People who Came to Pray beside the Gravestone of Rabbi Shalom Shabazi, One of the Greatest Torah Scholars of Yemen – the 19th Century
A booklet in ancient script (most likely, the 19th century, maybe even earlier) containing a long, special prayer phrased by one of the people who came to pray beside the gravestone of Rabbi Shalom Shabazi, who was one of the greatest Torah scholars of Yemen and one of its leading poets. The writer describes the long way he had passed to reach the holy gravestone.

Among others, it is written in the prayer: "… good for you that you are sitting with the holy angels … and may we merit seeing your shining and glowing face … due to the greatness of your mercy, may your ears be attentive to our prayers…"

Rabbi Shabazi's gravestone in the city of Ta'izz became sanctified by Jews and Moslems alike. Rabbi Shalom Shabazi was the most admired rabbinical figure among the Jews of Yemen and they called him "Abba (Father) Shalom Shabazi".

Condition: Good. wear and stains. the first and last leaves are missing, and maybe some leaves in the middle as well.

קונטרס בכתב יד עתיק (כנראה המאה ה-19, ואולי קודם לכן) ובו תפילה ארוכה ומיוחדת במינה שניסח אחד מהעולים על ציונו הקדוש של הצדיק רבי שלום שבזי זצ"ל, מגדולי חכמי וצדיקי תימן, ומגדולי משורריה. הכותב מתאר את דרכו הארוכה עד הגעתו לציון הקדוש.

בין היתר נכתב בתפילה: "... אשריך שאתה יושב עם המלאכים הקדושים אצל בני עליה... ויזכנו לראות פניך המאירים והמזהירים כזוהר הרקיע... אנא בכח גדולת רחמיך תהיינה אוזניך קשובות אלינו ותפילה שעה בזכות מ"ו אבא שלום בכמ"ו יוסף אלשבזי זי"ע...".

קברו של הרב שבזי, בעיר תעיז, נתקדש גם אצל היהודים וגם אצל התימנים המוסלמים. הוא האישיות הרבנית הנערצת ביותר על יהודי תימן ובפיהם הוא מכונה בתואר "אבא שלום שבזי". דמותו נתפסת בעיניהם כדמות מופלאה של איש מופת בעל השגות על אנושיות ומחולל ניסים, ורבים הם הסיפורים על מופתיו וישועותיו.
