1883 (Sept21): De La Rue Essay for proposed 4 d. value with Imperforate Colour Trial in brown, unwatermarked, marginal from top of sheet with manuscript "See CA (Crown Agents) letter 1 Dec 1885", unused without gum. Extremely rare, this was produced by DLR as the UPU colour standard; illustrated in "The De La Rue Collection" edited by Frank Walton RDP on page 5542. Unique.
