1870: Progressive Die Proof for Stamp Statute 1 d. value, imperforate in deep blue on thick white wove paper showing the uncleared "STAMP" inscription at left, initialled "WB 1/11/70" in ink by William Bell at base. Whilst the Stamp Statute series was issued in 1870 they were not valid for postage until 1 January 1884. A fine and rare Proof.rnProvenance: Collection J.R.W.
