British P.O. 1869: Cover from Pondichery to Orleans, France struck with scarce triangular unpaid marking of the British Post Office at Pondichery "23 / 7 69 / PONDICHERRY" in black with Accountancy marking "GB / 1F 66c." applied in Bombay. Carried on the P&O Steamer "Nubia" to Aden and thence by the "Bangalore" from Alexandria to Marseilles (Aug 23). Charged '30' décimes due on arrival for a weight up to 10 grams. Six further datestamps on reverse, some peripheral envelope imperfections and red arricator but rare.
