1850 (Sept 24): Prepaid entire letter from Liverpool to Mauritius endorsed "via Marseilles" with "Liverpool / Paid" despatch in red and rated "1s." in manuscript, carried on French steamer "Triton" from Marseilles to Alexandria, and P&O  "Oriental" to Galle; thence on "Elizabeth" and struck on arrival by early usage of oval framed PACKET LETTER / MAURITIUS in black (Nov 19), a fine strike.
