Overprinted on Transvaal in Pretoria 1889/90: Transvaal 1 d. carmine and 1 s. green, perf. 12½ x 12, with ½ d. grey, 2 d. olive-bistre and 6 d. blue, perf. 12½, overprinted in black; used on 1890 "Duiven - Van Gorcum" cover to Assen, Holland all tied by "718" numeral obliterators with "Embekelweni" despatch cds (Aug 8) below in blue. Reverse with Johannesburg transit cds and Assen arrival. A most attractive franking.
