Auction 333-341 Europe & Overseas Americas (North, Central & South America) - Day 1

1862: Fifth Issue, 50 c. green, block of four, comprising three type II and one type I (top right), unused, with large part original gum, good to very large margins all round, fresh colour, small tear top (second stamp) and close tear at base into lower left stamp and some thinning, otherwise fine, a rare example showing different types in combination. Cert. Bortfeldt (2008) States: "A spectacular piece." Ex the Brian Moorhouse Estate. Additionally comes with two album pages of the 50 c. containing seventeen examples of which there are three unused singles, ten used singles, four horizontal used pairs, including a left side marginal with type I and II cancelled by a "BOGOTA" Pearl oval in black. A valuable selection.
