lot # 495 - guatemala
1871: 1 c. ochre, sheet of 150 (10x15), a remarkably well preserved pane with full selvage all around showing the oval blue 'Controle/T.P.' hand-stamp at top right, this being the right pane of the double pane sheet of 300 as printed, amazingly fresh with strong rich colour, wonderfully intact and unfolded. Full o.g., hinged in the selvedge only with all stamps unmounted except the bottom left vertical three stamps (pos 121, 131 and 141), which has hinge reinforced vertical perfs. Well centered for this very tightly spaced issue, that has barely more space than the size of the perforation holes, very fine and a marvellous choice sheet; a full sheet is the largest recorded multiple of the perforated One Centavo Ochre. Ex the Brian Moorhouse Estate.
