The Printing Stone for the Two pence, of 240 impressions, was prepared from an Intermediate Stone of 18 (3 x 6), now in the Western Australia Museum in Perth (and illustrated in "Western Australia" on page 52), which in turn was built up from an initial transfer of 3 impressions. Of these, position 1 and 2 are touching and transfer type 3 has the word "PENCE" 9.7 mm. long as against 8.5 mm, and the words "TWO PENCE" nearly 1 mm. longer. Many of the stamps are found printed on both sides.
Lithographed by A. Hillman 1858 (Feb 26): 2 d. black on red, wmk. Swan sideways, imperforate, an unused example, (Type 2), with large margins all round and of excellent colour, even a small amount of original gum at the base of stamp remains. A magnificent and extremely rare stamp so fine Gi = £ 9'500.
