Colour Changes, Recess by De La Rue from Perkins Bacon Plates 1864/65: 6 d. violet, wmk. Crown CC, perf. 12½, a single example used on 1870 cover to Bridlington, Yorkshire tied by Bowra circle and bars numeral "2" obliterators in black with corresponding "PERTH / WESTERN AUSTRALIA" cds at left (Sept 13) in black. Carried on the "Avoca" to Galle, the "Candia" to Suez and the "Masilia" from Alexandria to Malta and the "Cairo" to Southampton, arriving 5th November. Bridlington arrival cds on reverse (Nov 7). A fine and attractive cover.
