1857/64: 1 d. rose-red, wmk. Large Crown, perf. 14, three horizontal pairs, used on cover from Belfast, Ireland to Port Louis, Mauritius, dated 17 April 1864, endorsed 'Via Southampton', tied by the '62' Irish diamond duplex in black, with faint strike in red of the '4½ d' alongside (credit mark to Mauritius for the P & O mail contract). Reverse with CLOUGH / ANTRIM cds in black, a thimble LONDON transit (AP 18) in blue as well as a Souillac arrival cds in black (May 25). The lower left pair overhang the base of the envelope and are damaged at base. Some wrinkles and soiling to cover otherwise a scarce usage.
