British Protectorate 1815-1864 1858: Cover from Zakynthos to Bordeaux struck with large "ZAKYNTHOS" cds of despatch (Sept 18) in blue, the reverse showing circular "VICE CONSULAT DE FRANCE / A ZANTE" in black. Sent with "1d." prepaid in red crayon for Ionian fee, thence unpaid with Paris transit (Sept 27) and struck with triangular "A/25" accountancy marking (Van der Linden fig. IG) in black and Bordeaux arrival of the following day and charged "10" décimes due. Edge wear to envelope but scarce.
