British Protectorate 1815-1864 1859: (½ d.) orange, a single example with large margins all round used on reverse and (1 d.) blue with close to large margins all round, on July 1859 entire letter from Cefalonia to Corfu, each cancelled by pen cross in black ink. Hooded "CEFALONIA" datestamp of despatch in watery blue ink (July 16) and small circular "CORFU" arrival cds in blue on reverse (July 17); the stamps being placed as per regulations: 1 d. inter-island fee on the obverse and ½ d. Lloyd ship fee on reverse. The ½ d. adhesive crossed by file fold but a remarkable and attractive entire bearing this rare issue. Signed Spanos. Cert. Simmermacher (1984).
