Austrian Consular P.O. in Alexandretta 1857/58ca: Undated envelope from Alexandretta to Count Liechtenstein in Vienna, struck on despatch with decent extremely scarce "ALEXANDRETTA 2 / 12" single circle datestamp (Müller & Tranmer unrecorded) in black, reverse with “WIEN 26 DEC.” arrival cds in red.  Charged upon arrival with ‘12’ kreuzer for the Lloyd journey and ‘9’ kreuzer for the Austrian inland rate noted in red crayon. One of only two covers with this elusive cancellation from the same correspondence. An amazing and obviously very major item for the most advanced collections of the Austrian Levant, cert.
