lot # 1221 - germany German Empire
1944-1944, collection of 18 covers (sometimes with the letter's content) sent to, from, and between staff members of various so-called KVL, Kinderverschickungslagers (children's evacuation camps). During the war, when the bombings intensified, children were relocated from major cities to these camps for safety reasons, where they were cared for and educated. All covers sent to the KVK in the Kleinwalsertal. This was an Austrian enclave in Germany and, after the Anschluss in 1938, as part of Ostmark, was fully under German administration. A fascinating piece of postal history in album
