1910, 28 July, Fire in Postal Railroadcars, USA-France-Germany, official mail envelope from Washington 20.7.10 to Berlin/Germany, with label "Gerettet aus verbrannter Amerikapost vom Dampfer La Lorraine via Havre am 28.7.10." (Saved from burnt mail from America originating from steamer La Lorraine via Havre 28.7.10). German officials erroneously stated the damage to be caused by a naval accident; however the mail went ashore intact and this cover was recovered from the French railway car which had burned at Pont St.Marene station (France) on 28 July 1910.
