1911, the correspondence of 21 items sent by seaman OKAZAKI Naozu from the HIJMS battlecruiser "Kurama" (Iburi class, 14.113 tons, launched 1911) travel Yokosuka-London and retour, at the occasion of the Japanese Royal visit to the coronation of King George V of Great Britain. Aboard were Prince and Princess Higashi Fushimi (Yorihito), Admiral Togo and General Nogi (of Russo-Japanese war fame) with Admiral Shimamura (commander of fleet consisitng of Kurama). The correspondence consists of 15 covers all w. contents and 6 ppc. 16 are marked as "warship mail" (special pouch from foreign harbour according 1894 UPU treaty), boxed vermilion handstamps (11) or red manuscript (5). The "warship mail" items were mostly cancelled at "TSURUGA", the closed pouches having travelled to Japan via Siberia, otherwise at Kobe. 22 Exhibition pages with detailed annotation/translations.
