1840: 1 d. black, pl. 6, lettered DE, very large margined example, tied by two red Maltese Crosses to 1840 letter sheet from Portsmouth (Dec. 29) to London. Redirected within London with handstruck "1" for additional charge and Charing Cross handstamp for redespatch. The adhesive is slightly cresed, but nevertheless a charming cover.
