1856, 4 d. carmine, thick highly glazed paper, medium garter wmk., horizontal pair, used on cover, from Leeds to Kingston, Canada, dated 15 August 1856, tied by fine strike of the Leeds sideway "447" duplex, with "d1" handstamp alongside in red, endorsed "per British mail steamer / Niagara" (Cunard Line), two Liverpool marks to reverse dated 16 August, horizontal filing crease well clear of stamps, slight soiling, a fine and scarce cover.
