1840: 1 d. black, plate 8, lettered LC, a used example, good to large margins all round, used locally on 1840 cover within London from the Chief Office in London to Grays Inn Square, cancelled by an early usage of the experimetal black Maltese Cross - the "turned cover" then forwarded to Old Charlton, Kent on the next day (Oct. 30) used with 1 d. black, plate 5, lettered LH, tied by Maltese Cross in red. Usual creases and reinforced due to refolding and resend clear of adhesives, a very rare "turned cover" with two different plates of the 1 d. black cancelled in two different colours. Certificate RPSL (2012).
