1848 (January 13): Entire letter to Amsterdam, franked with 1847 10 c. black, ample to large margins, tied by blue PAID handstamp, postmarked with Philadalphia / 10 Cts cds, manuscript "1/8" and "120" (Dutch) cents due, sender's "Liverpool Steamer Caledonia / from Boston, Jan 15" route directive arriving on January 29 and struck with transit and red "ENG: CORRESP. / OVER HAGUE", Amsterdam arrival cds, some light wrinkles, a rare cover, the sole recorded usage of the 1847 10 c. black to the Netherlands.
