British Protectorate 1815-1864 1847: Incoming entire letter from St. Gallen to Corfu, Ionian Islands endorsed "via Trieste" with fine "ST. GALLEN / C. St. G" despatch cds (July 19) in black, with manuscript "12/12" (kreuzer) applied in Trieste and struck on arrival with small "CORFU" arrival cds (Aug 30) in black where charged "10d." and local "3d." due 1s./1d. to pay upon receipt in red manuscript. A rare cover to a most unusual destination for Swiss mail of this period.
