Recess by Henri Gillet from Perkins Bacon Plates 1854 (April): 5 c. Burnt Siena, a fine used example in a reddish shade with large margins all round and portion of adjoining stamp at base, used on 1855 cover from Santiago to Valparaiso tied by target handstamp in black. SANTIAGO cds of despatch in red at left (Dec 11). The stamp lifted for checking and replaced, a fresh and fine cover. Cert. BPA (1994) Gi. 10 = £ 750/Scott = $ 900+. rnProvenance: Collection R.A.G.
