Great Britain - Day 4

1840 1d black pl.10 CI with fine to good margins on printed 'Union Bank of Manchester' entire to London, tied by red MC, with Manchester FE 3 1841 departure and London arrival strikes on reverse, also (on the front) a very fine example of the seldom seen ornate 'PL' in oval ( for 'Paid Letter') in red. Plate 10 with a red MC is scarce and particularly so on cover; cert. RPS (1977).
