1861/65 Civil War unused humorous patriotic envelope with cartoon in reddish purple showing three Union soldiers holding Jeff(erson) Davis in the air on the tips of their rifle bayonets. Above "Jeff" is "I only wanted to be let alone", whilst below Union soldiers, "Jeff's unbounded ambition gives hime an elevated position". Slight soiling, but a rare item.
