First Self Adhesives on a pair of matching covers, each cancelled with a London WC cds postmark (10th February 1974). The smaller cover has the three single values (½p, 1p & 1½p) on it with the larger one with pairs on two labels, both with neatly typed addresses. These were issued in the UK to mark the 10th Anniv of the Sierra Leone stamps from 1964. Mr Derek Worboys and Mr John Daynes both submitted orders for these Machin octagonal diestamped designs to Her Majesty’s Stationery Office to be produced on self-adhesive paper. These self-adhesives are officially approved by the Post Office and remain fully postally valid and are an important part of British postal history. Retail price c£250.
