Rio Grande Western Railway Co., 1st Trust Mortgage 4% 50 Year Gold Registered Bond Specimen Colorado and Utah. Specimen 1889. $1000. Green border and undertint. Locomotive #188 approaching L-R with harbor scene in background. XF condition. Red specimen overprint and POC's. Franklin BNC. The original Denver and Rio Grande Western Railway built a narrow gauge line from Ogden, Utah via Soldier Summit, Utah to Grand Junction, Colorado. The railroad became the Rio Grande Western Railway in 1889 as part of a finance plan to upgrade the line from narrow gauge to standard gauge, and built several branch lines in Utah to reach lucrative coal fields. One of only 3 found in archives, stunning appearance and rare. Only known as specimen.
