Peru: Ablassbrief / Letter of indulgence; 1806, Ablassbrief über eine Ablasszahlung von 18 Reales in geprägtem Silber, #37, 21.5 x 31.5 cm, schwarz, beige, ausgestellt auf Manuel de la Puente-Arnao, offensichtlich gedruckte/gestempelte Signatur von Patricio Martinez de Bustos, dem General Commissarius der Kreuzbulle, Vignette links oben, zwei Wappen links und rechts unten, Knickfalten, Klammerlöcher am linken Rand, kleiner Randschaden unten. Eine Kreuzbulle war - ursprünglich mit dem Kampf gegen Ungläubige begründet - mit der Zeit fester Bestandteil der Einkünfte der spanischen Krone insofern, dass der König durch Untertanen und Geistliche Ablässe und gewisse Privilegien gegen einen bestimmten Preis verkaufen konnte. Manuel de la Puente-Arnao war ein Ritter des Alcántaraordens und diente in der königlichen Armee von Peru. Er starb 1813 in der Schlacht von Vilcapugio. 1806, Letter of indulgence for a payment of 18 Reales in minted silver, #37, 21.5 x 31.5 cm, black, white, issued to Manuel de la Puente-Arnao, obviously printed/stamped signature of Patricio Martinez de Bustos, General Commissarius of the Bull of the Crusade, vignette at upper left, two coats of arms at lower left and right, folds, pinholes, small damage at lower margin. A Bull of the Crusade was part of the revenues of the Spanish Crown. The king's subjects and clergy sold indulgences and privileges at a specific price - initially to those who took part in the crusades against unbelievers, later to people in general. Manuel de la Puente-Arnao was knight of the Order of Alcántara and served in the Royal Army of Peru. He passed away in the Battle of Vilcapugio in 1813.
