Reverse: VESTALIS to right, the Vestal virgin, Claudia Quinta, seated left, holding bowl with two handles (cymbium). Crawford 512/2; HCRI 317; Sydenham 1135; Claudia 13. Lustrous and nicely toned. Extremely Fine.
The reverse depicts Claudia Quinta, the Vestal virgin who transported the image of Cybele to Rome in 204 BC. The obverse alludes to the Ludi Floriales, games instituted by an ancestor of the moneyer in 240 BC.
