lot # 307 - united states draped bust cents
1796 S-96 R6 Draped Bust PCGS Genuine, G Details, Surface Damage. Sharpness G5 but the edge has been lightly tapped all around creating a high rim that impinges on the date and some of the letters in the legend. No notable marks. The surfaces are decent but a glass reveals uniform extremely faint roughness covering both sides. Slightly glossy medium to dark chocolate brown and steel with a narrow arc of lighter brown toning on the left side of the reverse. The date is easily readable in spite of the raised rim and the legends are mostly clear (although HALF CENT is faint at best). LDS, Breen state II, with a die crack bisecting the reverse from the T in UNITED to the M in AMERICA. Our grade is G5 sharpness net AG3. One of the rarest varieties of the year, and the finest known grades only F12. The attribution is shown on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $3,000-UP.
