lot # 311 - united states draped bust cents
1796 S-103 R4+ LIHERTY Obverse VG8. Sharpness near VF20 but covered with uniform fine to moderate granularity on all but the highpoints, which are smooth. No marks or verdigris. Dark steel and olive brown with glossy lighter chocolate and steel brown toning on the highpoints. The bottom edge of the date is a bit weak due to an uneven strike on that side but the rest is clear and the legends are complete. The LIHERTY error is bold, the B over inverted B feature being obvious to the unaided eye. A decent example of the rarer version of this popular "Redbook" error.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
