ca 1680 Spain/Portugal Medal of the Annunciation. Hand chased silver, constructed of 2 halves joined via a silver frame with suspension loop at top. 52mm x 44mm. Obv depicts a portrait of the Archangel Gabriel, hand raised in Atonement, with the Holy Spirit (in bird form) above, initials 'VS' below. Rev with grieving Madonna before Golgotha & Crucifixion scene, resurrection reference above. Initials 'VS' below. gVF/aEF.
