1909, 6 October, South Africa, Fire in Postal Railroadcars, cover from Brighton/England to Pretoria, heavily damaged with scorch marks. A mail car of the express train carrying the incoming mail from Europe was set to fire after a chemical substance, which was included in the mail, exploded. This cover survived, was delivered and redirected to Johannesburg on 9 October.
