Stamp Design Competition 1928: Essay for proposed 1½ d. value hand drawn and painted on white card (84 x 113 mm.), showing "AUSTRALIA" in boomerang and the vignette with "Endeavour / May 1870" all in black and in shades of brown or grey, highlighted in Chinese white; submitted under the pseudonym "Captain Kookaburra" and dated 1928 at base. A rare and attractive Essay, commended in the competition.
