Auction 333-341 Europe & Overseas Americas (North, Central & South America) - Day 1

Recess by H. C. Gillet 1854 (April): 5 c. deep chocolate-brown, a used horizontal pair, the left stamp just clear at top, otherwise good to very large margins with parts of two neighbouring stamps at left, tied by two clear black target handstamps to 1855 cover to Valparaiso with red "SANTIAGO" despatch cds (July 31). A choice and very rare franking.
