Auction 333-341 Europe & Overseas Americas (North, Central & South America) - Day 1

1878: Morazan ½ r. black, a single example and a horizontal strip of five, used on reverse of 1889 registered cover to Manchester endorsed "via New Orleans", all lightly cancelled by circular three ring target cancels in violet. Obverse shows oval framed "ADMINISTRACION DEPARTMENTAL / DE CORREOS / COMAYAGUA" and registration cachet "REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS / R" in violet and both New Orleans transit (Dec 4) and large part of New York transit registered label. Reverse with "PUERTO CORTEZ" datestamp (Nov 26) and Manchester arrival (Dec 15). Edge wear to envelope but a magnificent and extremely rare cover.
