1873: 1 s. green, plate 12, in combination with 1881 1 d. lilac horizontal pair and Jubilee 1887 4 d. green & brown, two singles, used on a registered Stanley Gibbons envelope (printed embosssed flap), sent from London to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, dated 2 January 1890, tied by a London registered cds in black. To reverse an arrival double circle in black (2 February 1890). Some stains, creasing and the 1 s. green is pocket quality. The cover is philatelically inspired being sent by a stamp dealer. However, a rare cover. Mixed frankings involving the Jubilee 4 d. green & brown are rare with fewer than ten recorded.
Note: The second latest use of the 1873 1 s. green according to the Karl Louis card index and the only recorded registered cover to Brazil bearing an 1873 1 s. green.
