1851: 2 d. lavender (violet) blue, plate 4, lettered AA-AD / BA-BCa used irregular block of seven, with mostly good to very large margins all round, in combination with 1 d. red-brown on lavender tinted paper, plate 126, lettered OF, all tied to 1852 cover endorsed "pr. Africa Str." (Cunard) to New York tied by '466' Liverpool numeral obliterators in black; the rate of 1/3 d. including the 3 d. Late Fee. "5 Cents" credit marking in red with "PAID" below. Two stamps creased but an exceptional multiple in this extremely rare shade - the most important cover of the 2d. 'violet blue' on lavender tinted paper Certificate of opinion Robson Lowe (1974) and RPSL (1985) Gi ES16.
