Crash Mail 1953: Ife Bronze 6 d. dark-grey & orange-brown aerogramme, sent from Enugu, Nigeria to London, England, dated 23 June 1956, cancelled by a "ENUGU NIGERIA" double circle datestamp in black, with "SALVAGED / ARGONAUT AIR / CRASH KANO" cachet in violet. Scorch marks from the air crash fire. A scarce example.
Note: The British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) Canadair C-4 Argonaut airliner crashed into a tree on departure from Kano Airport in Nigeria, on 24 June 1956. Three crew and 29 passengers were killed.
