1896: Typeset by Revd. Rowling, imperforate 1 a. black in a horizontal strip of three, 3 a. black in a horizontal strip of three, 4 a. black in a horizontal pair and single example of the 8 a. black on toned paper, the 1 a. strip defective at base of two stamps, the first stamp in each of the 1 a. and 3 a. strips and single 8 a. showing variety "Small "o" in POSTAGE, used on 1898 cover to Aden and cancelled and initialled in blue crayon manuscript. Large "T" marking in blue as this issue was only valid internally and struck with circular manuscript filled "Overland Postage Due / 15 annas" in black on obverse. Reverse with Mombasa cds in blue (Sept 11), Zanzibar cds (Sept 16), Aden and Aden Camp cds's of receipt (Oct 4). Despite imperfections, a rare cover.
