French Post Office in Smirna 1839: Cover from Smirna to London mailed at French PO with "SMYRNE / (TURQUIE)" cds in black (July 30), slitted for disinfection in transit with circular "PURIFIÉ AU LAZARET / MALTE" in black, reverse with framed "BRITISH / FOREIGN" in black showing rate split: 1s. 10½d. to French P.O. and 10d. for GB = 2/8½d. to pay marked in manuscript; with London cds of arrival (Aug 17) alongside. Superb cover that displays well.
