Auction 333-341 Europe & Overseas - Day 6

1902 (Jan): Typset 5 ch. red on buff, imperforate, overprinted rectangular PROVISOIRE / 1319 in black, a single example with large margins all round, marginal from right of sheet, used on reverse of 1902 cover with original contents to Yazd via Teheran (April 20) tied by MECHED cds in black (April 17). Yazd arrival cds on obverse (April 28). A fine and very scarce usage with just 15 internal usages of this stamp on letter recorded.
Note: This cover was mailed from Meched during the period that the famous Meched issue prepared by Victor Castaign was in use.
